How it Works
New to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest? Feel the need to refresh your memory? Are you an undercover time traveller from the 1800s, wondering what this is all about? Here we'll explain to you how it works.
20 countries competed in the 2018 edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest which was held in Minsk, Belarus.
Each participating national broadcaster chose their artist(s) (a maximum of six people), and a brand new song (of a maximum of three minutes) through a nationally televised selection or internal selection. They had to do so before early October, the official deadline to send in entries.
From there, each country went on to perform in the Contest and be scored by a mix of public and jury vote. Of course, only one country could win.
